TOTNES CARING is a charity offering help and assistance to elderly, disabled and vulnerable people, registered with the Leatside and Catherine House surgeries, and living in Totnes and its surrounding areas. Our aim is to enable them to live independently at home, free from isolation.
Totnes Caring was originally set up in 1987 by doctors of the town to provide extra help and support for their patients. Since then the charity has expanded and now offers a wide range of services, which include transport, shopping, form filling, befriending, luncheon clubs, benefit and fuel poverty checks. And more!
If you’d like to give something back to the community, why not volunteer with us?

We are really desperate for more volunteer drivers and I was wondering if any of your wonderful parishioners would be interested. If you have a little time to spare and are interested in becoming a volunteer car driver for Totnes Caring, please contact Sue Alford or Jacquie Mills on 01803 865684 or email us.
Thanking you in advance, Jan

Mondays to Fridays we have our Lunch Clubs. Held at The Conservative Club in Totnes, clients may either make their own way there or we are able to collect them in our mini-bus or wheelchair assisted vehicle. Lunch currently costs £4.50, and it is a really lovely sociable occasion too.

Totnes Caring started a group called New Directions in October 2014. It is a weekly group which takes place every Wednesday at the Conservative Club in Totnes, from 2pm to 4pm. Since it was first set up there has been a weekly programme of arts, crafts, music and gentle exercise. (Japanese Tea Party, hand bell ringing, pottery, Christmas card making, table decoration making, and armchair exercises – something for everyone!)
• if you would like to join in, please call Jess on 01803 864345
Some people also have lunch at the Club (at a cost of £7.50) before joining the group, making the afternoon even more enjoyable. Totnes Caring can even take you there – just call us on 01803 865684.
