The Greenwood Consort are going to try to settle some old disputes:
Could women write music in the baroque period?
Hear the violin sonata of Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and decide for yourself.
Is God one person or three persons?
Telemann’s cantata Unbegreiflich ist dein Wesen uses voice, violin and basso continuo to plait a single thread from three musical lines to explore this concept.
Who is stronger – Neptune or Jupiter?
Rameau’s cantata Thétis has some explosive string writing to illustrate the power of these mythological immortals.
Is German or French baroque music more expressive?
Who cares if it is all beautiful!
Telemann: Sonata in D minor (Essercizii Musici)
Jacquet de la Guerre: Sonata No.1 in D minor
Telemann: Unbegreiflich ist dein Wesen
Rameau: Pièce de clavecin en concert No.1
