Exeter Community Centre
17 St David’s Hill, Exeter EX4 3RG
The Exeter Roadshow will bring together people from churches, housing and homelessness organisations, and others from the voluntary and statutory sector.
The aim of this ecumenical event is to encourage and motivate churches to be part of the housing solution in Exeter and to work in partnership with others.
There is significant housing need in all areas and this roadshow will be an opportunity to share good practice and discuss how working together can bring real change to communities.
Across the nation, homelessness and lack of decent housing have a devastating impact on lives. The introduction of welfare benefit reform has made this situation worse for many families and single people.
Come and be inspired to make a difference!

A report on recent activities and success stories:
Churches in action
“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me.” (Matthew 25:35.)
We have something to celebrate. The churches of Paignton have worked together to provide emergency night shelter during February.  Inspired by Paula, and ably assisted by Mike French, a large team of volunteers from the churches came together and showed how Christians can follow the commands of Jesus in some very practical ways.
It was not just a warm dry spot for the night.
The volunteers provided clean beds, hot evening meals, and breakfast as well as having time to listen to people who needed to talk, sometimes late into the night.
The project was following Jesus’ agenda – to invite the “strangers” in, make them welcome, give them something to eat and drink.   I think this all gladdened the heart of our Father in Heaven.
I was tempted to draw attention to the way our society and government mistreat the poor and vulnerable. But as we are approaching the celebration of Easter, we focus on the Hope and Love that is at the heart of our faith – and celebrate the way that Jesus “came not to be served but to serve.”
That is something that we can also do for others.
